Want to live a better, happier, healthier life? Go for a walk. Not only is walking great exercise, it has been proven to improve mood, to decrease stress and to increase overall happiness. In a California State University, Long Beach, study they found that the more steps people took, the better their moods were at the end of the day. How great is that? Its because walking releases natural painkilling endorphin’s to the body, making you feel relaxed and content. The best part about walking is that almost anyone can do it, almost anywhere,completely free of charge. All you need is a good pair of shoes and maybe some headphones.
If the idea of walking alone is intimidating, ask a friend or family member to join you. The time will fly by, and you’ll probably have a lot of fun.
- If you have trouble walking for long periods of time, try ten minute intervals throughout the day, and gradually move towards longer.
